Why do you need a backup system?
A single three-second micro-outage can crash a production line, corrupt databases, fry control boards or trigger six-hour stoppages. In intensive sectors —food, logistics, healthcare, datacenters, wineries, CNC shops— the real cost of power downtime far exceeds what you'd save by not investing in backup.
Spanish power grids are reasonably reliable, but the problems rarely come from long outages: what hurts are voltage dips, micro-outages and harmonics. A properly designed backup system neutralises all of that, transparently for your equipment.
According to various sector studies, in continuous-process industry a single serious voltage dip can cost between €10,000 and €250,000 depending on the sector. The ROI of a good backup is measured in events avoided, not years.
Backup technologies we install
Online double-conversion UPS
Online technology that always delivers clean, filtered energy, isolating your critical loads from the grid. Zero transfer time. Designed for servers, control electronics, medical equipment and communications.
Industrial lithium batteries
High-capacity storage to cover long outages or flatten demand peaks. Lifetime > 6,000 cycles, BMS monitoring and modular form factor to scale power and runtime.
Diesel/gas generators
For long autonomy (hours or days). Diesel, LPG or natural gas depending on your installation. Automatic start in less than 10 seconds and scheduled maintenance included in the contract.
PV + battery hybrid solutions
We combine solar and storage to cover two goals at once: backup against outages and energy savings in normal operation. The investment pays double: in energy and in security.
Sectors where we make the difference
- Logistics and industrial cold: temperature-controlled rooms, loading docks, WMS systems. A failure can ruin inventory.
- Food and beverage: filling lines, ovens, fermenters, packaging lines. A stoppage equals lost product.
- Healthcare and nursing homes: vital equipment, critical HVAC, lifts. Legal continuity requirements.
- Datacenters and telecoms: downtime measured in tens of thousands of euros per hour.
- Hotels and restaurants: kitchens, cold rooms, POS, lifts. Brand image and reputation on the line.
- CNC shops and manufacturing: equipment with sensitive electronics damaged by voltage dips.
How we size your backup
We don't sell off-the-shelf kits. Every industrial project is unique, so our process is always the same:
- Electrical audit. We measure grid quality over several days (events, dips, harmonics, spikes) with network analysers. We map critical loads, non-critical loads and loads that can stop in a controlled way.
- Criticality analysis. We classify which processes CANNOT stop, which can wait 30 seconds and which can be shut down in an orderly manner.
- Power and runtime calculation. We define the system: power (kVA), type (UPS, battery, generator or hybrid) and minutes/hours of runtime based on the worst realistic scenario for your grid.
- Electrical design and technical project. Single-line diagrams, protections, panels, by-passes and transfers. All compliant with Spanish REBT and the relevant ITC.
- Installation and testing. Commissioning, load tests, outage simulation and final validation with the client.
- Maintenance with SLA. Annual contract with inspections, annual real discharge test, remote monitoring and guaranteed on-site response time.
Integration with solar self-consumption
The big leap of recent years is that you no longer have to choose between investing in security or in savings: hybrid systems do both at once. The batteries covering the backup work in normal operation flattening demand peaks and storing the solar surplus. The result: your business is shielded from the grid and also pays less every month. If you wish, you can also see our services for solar panels on a leasing plan and heat pumps, which integrate on the same installation.
Industrial backup FAQ
How fast does the system start when power is lost?
Depends on the technology. An online double-conversion UPS transfers in 0 ms (you don't notice anything). An off-grid hybrid battery, in 20–60 ms. A generator, between 4 and 15 seconds. For critical processes we usually combine battery + generator: the battery covers the dip, the generator covers the long run.
Can it be installed without stopping the factory?
Yes. We plan integration with manual by-passes and maintenance windows so commissioning doesn't affect production. In most projects, the actual hookup takes 1–2 hours.
What warranty and maintenance do you include?
Equipment with a minimum 2-year warranty (5 years on batteries). Maintenance contract with configurable SLA: inspections, annual discharge test, critical spares in stock and response times < 4 h in covered zones.
Also available on leasing like solar panels?
Yes. Industrial backup can be contracted as CAPEX, pure leasing, or as a combined package with your photovoltaic installation. Tell us your case and we'll design the formula that best fits your treasury.
